Rapid Unscheduled Misinformation: Why and How to Fact-check Mythology

Short presentation on the follies of taking shortcuts when researching mythology, and followed with some pointers on how to conduct it properly.

The first half is a dissection of the description of the myth of Endymion on Wikipedia (and the OSP video ;) ) where we will look at the primary sources and try and understand how the summary on Wikipedia was synthesized from the fragments we have of the original. In the process, we will look at the different types of sources, what they have to offer, and how to use them in context. The end will be a guide for how to approach researching other myths, how to contextualize sources, and red flags when looking at primary/secondary sources.
