Who's Running this Thing?
The Fandom Convention is hosted in collaboration between The University of Toronto Fanfiction Club, and the University of Toronto Hoyoverse club. Read more about them below!
UTFFC
University of Toronto Fanfiction Club
Founded in 2023, Fanfiction club started as a student group looking to fill a niche left in the student body; a place for the nerds and freaks of UofT.
Over these past 3 years we’ve found those sickos and they’ve found us, and in between the waves of them we’ve found community, connection, new favourite writers to follow on Ao3 and most importantly of all, friendship. Now this savage army of artist, writers, and fandom appreciators has set their sights on UofT. And we couldn’t be more excited to share that same magic with the student body at large.
UTHOYO
University of Toronto Hoyoverse Club
UofT Hoyoverse Club's purpose is to foster community for students who share a passion for gacha games and content.
From Genshin to Umamusume to LADS, we all have our gambling addiction in common. We host weekly social events to help gamers touch grass and meet other people and do what we can to support creativity and improve literacy in all aspects, from cosplay crunches to fanart- we're going to do our best to put on a damn good con ^-^
Why are you hosting a convention?
UTFFC and UTHOYO got tired of paying fifty bux just to wait in line at Anime North, so they’re going broke to host A Convention of Our Own! Because what screams fannish community more than shelling out hard-earned dollars for life-sized cardboard cutouts of your favourite characters?
This is our way of giving back to the incredible fandom community here at the University of Toronto—thank you for an amazing 3 years! Here’s to more slop next year, next decade, for ever and ever and ever and ever
Oh, fandom con is also free. FREE. come right now
Pssst...
While both clubs are student groups belonging to the University of Toronto, the University itself is not affiliated with this convention or any of its events. Nor are we affiliated with miHoYo Co., Ltd or the Organization for Transfor-mative Works.
